Bootcamp and Windows

Blech.

I hate windows.

HATE IT.

But I have to have to map and mod and play my games.
So starting today, I am running windows natively on my Mac, using bootcamp.
So, no more CrossOver Games and no more Parallels Desktop.

Full native speed and high FPS, here I come!

GDD

Rules:

1. Two teams: White and Black

2. Flag is picked up from "Flag Area" and taken to base.

3. Flag maybe taken by the other team upto 1:30 after capture (that's Minute:Second format)

4. Flag must be taken back to flag room to "reset" it and then taken to base if stolen.

5. If a team captures the flag, the other team can *try* to kill EVERYONE on the Capture team without sustaining any loses (Deathmatch round)

6. Respawn: 30s minimum.

Only 3 new guns will be incorporated:

1. The Headcrab Launcher Primary fire: Launches headcrab Secondary fire: Launches a poison or fast headcrab

2. Alyxgun Primary fire: Fires gun Secondary Fire: Switches between full auto and semi auto modes.

3. Gauss Gun Primary fire: fires gun Secondary fire: charges gun

Players on each team will have the ability to use every weapon. Certain weapons must be found for players to use them.

The mod will feature one song that will play at the title screen. My friend Nathan and I are working on some more music (Instrumental, of course) that will play at the menu.

Defense will feature only one and a half new models:

The player element for the Alyxgun, and a model for the Headcrab Launcher.

Defense will also only feature two skins: Changes in the colors for the player models for each team.

I'm going to try to limit the number of mod team members to:

1. A modeler/ skinner

2. A coder or two

3. A mapper (me!)

I plan on the first release incorporating just one new gun, and only the new round system. Additional content will be added as the mod continues.

Welcome, to the blog of Defense!

Hey guys, this is a developer's blog for my mod, Defense, which is a multiplayer game that combines gameplay aspects from Capture-The-Flag and Deathmatch. The game is built off of Valve Software's Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. The game runs under the Source Engine Version '07 (which is to say, built off the code released in The Orange Box) More in-depth notes are available at: Defense's VDC Page. I'll copy up that to the blog in a little bit.

Some news:

The first map, df_major, is currently in Alpha Version 0.5
I'll post some screenshots in a little while.
